The Misfits| Total images: 4 | Date added: 15.12.2007The Misfits are a punk rock band formed in 1977 and led by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig and later, bassist Jerry Only. They were highly influential on the genres of heavy metal, punk and rock music in general. Though they ceased recording and performing in 1983, a new version of the band (led by Only and without founder and former frontman Danzig) began operations in 1995.
The early Misfits were often quite melodic, featuring Danzig's versatile singing, which had a style rooted in Italian tenors such as Mario Lanza and in 1950s doo-wop. Musically, the band has also displayed some Rockabilly influences (but not as much as Psychobilly bands). Early Misfits songs tended to have catchy, sing-along choruses, initially backed by Danzig's distorted keyboard accompaniments and later by willfully crude guitar-rock. The band began as a largely untrained ensemble. After several lineup changes and increasing international acclaim, Danzig disbanded the original Misfits in 1983.
The band often wore corpse paint when performing, and bassist Jerry Only reputedly invented a hairstyle called the devilock (a variation of the "tidal wave" hairstyle) with the front coming to a point in front of the nose or chin, a style still worn by fans (a.k.a. Fiends) today and contributed to the foundation of Horror punk.
When the band originally reformed, it featured Michale Graves on vocals, Jerry Only on bass, Dr. Chud (Cannibalistic Human Underground Drummer) on drums, and Jerry's brother Doyle on guitar. Doyle is currently estranged from the group and is working with a new group named Gorgeous Frankenstein, which formed in 2005. Doyle recently reunited with Glenn Danzig's band Danzig to perform special sets of Misfits songs on Danzig's Blackest of the Black 2005 and 2006 tour.
A third, touring incarnation of the band, without Danzig, is presently led by the only other constant original member, bassist Jerry Only. Members of the touring group have included Marky Ramone (of the Ramones), and both drummer ROBO (who was a member of the original band), and guitarist Dez Cadena of Black Flag fame.
Mindless Self Indulgence| Total images: 1 | Date added: 15.12.2007Mindless Self Indulgence (commonly referred to as MSI) is a New York-based band. They have previously described their music as "industrial jungle pussy punk." Their music is a blend of Industrial Rock and electronica with a heavy punk and hip-hop influence. Marilyn Manson| Total images: 4 | Date added: 15.12.2007Marilyn Manson is a rock band based in Los Angeles, California. Advocates of nonconformity, and often utilising controversial imagery and lyrical content, the band is commonly described as shock rock. It is difficult to categorise the band, as it displays influences from many genres of hard rock, including industrial, heavy metal and glam rock. Each album thus far has had a distinct and individual sound, and the band and frontman endeavor to devise and use a unique image and aesthetic for each album's era. The band was formed in 1989 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as "Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids". The band's uniquely theatrical performances gathered a local cult following that subsequently developed into a worldwide fanbase.
Marilyn Manson's reputation has likewise grown, with the band now considered one of modern music's most widely-known and most controversial; this has been due, in large part, to eponymous lead singer Marilyn Manson — born Brian Warner — and his frequent clashes with religious and political figures. The name of each band member was originally created by combining the first name of an iconic female sex symbol and the last name of an iconic mass murderer or serial killer. In recent years, new members of the band have strayed away from this formula and used their own names. The members of the band dress in outlandish makeup and costumes, and have engaged in intentionally shocking behavior both onstage and off. Their lyrics often receive criticism for their anti-religious sentiment and their references to sex, violence and drugs. Marilyn Manson's music and performances have frequently been called offensive and obscene, and, more than a few times, protests and petitions have led to the group being banned from performing.
As this controversy began to wane, so did the band's mainstream popularity. Despite this, its many devoted fans have made Marilyn Manson a consistently high-profile group: three of the band's albums have been awarded platinum certification and three more have been awarded gold, and the band has seen three of its releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums. In June 2003, Jon Wiederhorn of MTV.com referred to Marilyn Manson as "the only true artist today".
Machine Head| Total images: 2 | Date added: 15.12.2007Machine Head is an American heavy metal band, formed in 1992 in Oakland, California. The band has released six studio albums, one live album, and one DVD. Soundgarden| Total images: 1 | Date added: 15.12.2007Soundgarden was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1984. Formed by Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, and Hiro Yamamoto, Soundgarden was one of the key bands in the creation of grunge music, a musical style that developed in Seattle and was based around their record label Sub Pop. Soundgarden was the first grunge band to sign to a major label, but they did not achieve commercial success until Seattle contemporaries Nirvana and Pearl Jam popularized grunge in the early 1990s.
Soundgarden achieved its biggest success with the 1994 album Superunknown which debuted at number one on the Billboard charts and yielded the Grammy Award-winning singles "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman". In 1997, the band broke up due to internal strife over their creative direction.
System of a Down (commonly referred to as System or abbreviated as SOAD)| Total images: 4 | Date added: 15.12.2007System of a Down (commonly referred to as System or abbreviated as SOAD), is a four-piece American rock band, formed in 1995 in Glendale, California. All four members are of Armenian descent, grandsons of Armenian Genocide survivors, and are widely known for their outspoken views found in many of their songs.
System of a Down has achieved commercial success over five albums, with singles such as "Chop Suey!", "Aerials", "B.Y.O.B.", and "Hypnotize". Their works have earned them one Grammy Award amongst three nominations.
System of a Down is a part of the Axis of Justice, a non-profit organization formed by band member Serj Tankian (along with Tom Morello) that is dedicated to bringing together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice.
The Police| Total images: 1 | Date added: 15.12.2007The Police are a three-piece rock band consisting of bassist/lead vocalist Sting (Gordon Sumner), guitarist Andy Summers, and drummer Stewart Copeland. The band became globally popular in the early 1980s, playing a style of rock that was influenced by jazz, reggae, and punk music. Their 1983 album Synchronicity was number one in the UK and the US and went Platinum eight times in the US. The band broke up in the mid-1980s, but reunited in early 2007 with the announcement that they are undertaking a world tour from the middle of that year on until mid-2008, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their hit single "Roxanne" and also, to a lesser extent, that of their formation as a group. The Damned| Total images: 1 | Date added: 15.12.2007The Damned are an English punk and gothic rock band formed in London in 1976. They were the first punk band from England to release a single ("New Rose"), put out an album (Damned Damned Damned), and tour the United States. They are also considered a foundational influence on both hardcore punk and gothic rock.
The Damned have incorporated many different styles into their music and image; such as garage rock, psychedelic rock, cabaret and the theatrical rock of Screaming Lord Sutch and Alex Harvey. The Damned have dissolved and reformed many times, with singer Dave Vanian as the sole constant member. However, the lineups have always included either guitarist Captain Sensible and/or drummer Rat Scabies, both founding members. As of 2007, the line-up includes original members Vanian and Sensible. Vanian's vocal style has been described as similar to a crooner.
American drummer Jeff Nelson, (Minor Threat), described the Damned as "The Beatles of punk".
the cure| Total images: 4 | Date added: 15.12.2007The Cure are an English rock band that formed in Crawley, Sussex in 1976. The band has experienced several lineup changes, with frontman, guitarist and main songwriter Robert Smith — known for his iconic wild hair, pale complexion, smudged lipstick and frequently gloomy and introspective lyrics — the only constant member.
The members of The Cure were barely out of their teens when they first started releasing music in the late 1970s. Their first album Three Imaginary Boys and early singles placed them as part of the post-punk and New Wave movements that had sprung up in the wake of the punk rock revolution in the United Kingdom. During the early 1980s the band's increasingly dark and tormented music helped form the gothic rock genre. After the release of 1982's Pornography, the band's future was uncertain and frontman Robert Smith was keen to move past the gloomy reputation his band had cultivated. With the 1982 single "Let's Go to Bed" Smith began to inject more of a pop sensibility into the band's music. The Cure's popularity increased as the decade wore on, especially in the United States, where the songs "Just Like Heaven", "Lovesong" and "Friday I'm in Love" entered the Billboard Top 40 charts. By the start of the 1990s, The Cure were one of the most popular alternative rock bands in the world and have sold an estimated 27 million albums as of 2004. As of 2007, The Cure have released twelve studio albums and over thirty singles, with a thirteenth album in the works. The Haunted| Total images: 2 | Date added: 15.12.2007The Haunted is a Swedish/Danish melodic death metal band with thrash metal influences, formed in 1996. The original members were Patrik Jensen (also member of Witchery) on guitar, Jonas Björler (bass), Adrian Erlandsson (drums), Anders Björler (guitar), and Peter Dolving (vocals). Both of the Björler brothers and Erlandsson were members of seminal melodic death metal band At the Gates, a pioneering force in the Swedish death metal scene. The current drummer is Per Möller Jensen. All members (past and present) are from Gothenburg, Sweden, with the exception of Per Möller Jensen, who is from Denmark, and Patrik Jensen, who is from Linköping. The Ramones| Total images: 2 | Date added: 15.12.2007The Ramones were an American rock band often regarded as the first punk rock group.
After forming in Forest Hills, Queens, New York, in 1974, they performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually non-stop for 22 years. In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza music festival, the band went on a brief nightclub tour and then disbanded. The band's three founding members—Joey Ramone, Johnny Ramone and Dee Dee Ramone—died within eight years of the break-up.
The Ramones failed to achieve much commercial success during their years of recording and performing. Their only album to reach certified gold status in the U.S. was their compilation album Ramones Mania.[6] Appreciation of the band has grown since the 1980s, and they now regularly appear on "all-time greatest" lists, such as Rolling Stone’s list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and Mojo's 100 Greatest Albums. In 2002, the Ramones were voted the second greatest rock and roll band ever in Spin Magazine, trailing only The Beatles. On March 18, 2002, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Trivium| Total images: 2 | Date added: 15.12.2007Trivium is a metal band from Orlando, Florida. They formed in 2000, and after three years, released a demo. The demo helped them to get signed to Lifeforce Records, where they released Ember to Inferno. Following on from this, they were signed to Roadrunner Records and released Ascendancy. Their popularity grew, as their next, and most recent album, The Crusade peaked at #25 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and #7 in the UK. They have toured many countries and played alongside many different bands, including Iron Maiden, Metallica and Machine Head. Originally Trivium were a metalcore band, as is heard on their first two records. Recently, they have developed a more thrash metal sound as heard on their most recent album. Type O Negative| Total images: 1 | Date added: 15.12.2007Type O Negative is a band from Brooklyn, New York City. They are notable as one of the earliest successes in the goth/doom metal style. In addition, however, the band has always balanced a variety of non-goth influences, such as The Beatles (sometimes referring to themselves in jest as "The Drab Four"). Despite a dramatic lyrical emphasis on themes of sex, romance, depression, and death, Type O is also known for an irreverent and self-deprecating sense of humor. Their popularity grew in 1993 with the album Bloody Kisses, which featured the provocative hits "Christian Woman" and "Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All)". Their most recent album is 2007's Dead Again. Madonna| Total images: 19 | Date added: 15.12.2007Madonna Louise Ciccone Ritchie (born August 16, 1958) is an American pop singer-songwriter, dancer, record producer, film producer, actress, author and a fashion icon. She is a multiple Grammy- and Golden Globe-award winner, known for her ambitious music videos, stage performances and use of political, sexual, and religious themes in her work. Madonna is sometimes referred to as "the Material Girl" or "Queen of Pop" in the media.
Since her debut in 1982, Madonna has released many chart-topping albums and singles, and has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide. Billboard reported that her 2006 Confessions Tour holds the record for the top-grossing concert tour by a female artist. According to both the 2007 Guinness Book of Records, and Forbes, she is the top earning female singer in the world with an estimated net worth of over $325 million. In 2001, the Guinness Book of World Records listed Madonna as the "World’s Most-successful Female Musician".
On December 13, 2007, it was announced that Madonna would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. Lostprophets| Total images: 1 | Date added: 15.12.2007Lostprophets are a Welsh alternative metal band formed in 1997. They have produced several demos (none of which are still produced commercially), three studio albums and eleven singles. Their first album, Thefakesoundofprogress, was originally recorded in a week for $5000 and intended as a demo, but the band re-recorded and re-released the album on a much wider scale through Columbia Records in the USA, although they remain with Visible Noise in the UK. They released Start Something in 2004, and Liberation Transmission in 2006, both to mixed reviews and commercial success. Linkin Park| Total images: 8 | Date added: 15.12.2007Linkin Park is a rock band from Agoura Hills, California. Since their formation in 1996, the band has sold more than fifty million albums and won two Grammys. With their debut album, Hybrid Theory, they achieved mainstream success; the album was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005. Their following studio album, Meteora, continued the band's success, topping the Billboard 200’s album charts in 2003, and was followed by extensive touring and charity work around the world.
Recognized for their adaption of the nu metal genre into a radio-friendly style in Meteora and Hybrid Theory, the band’s latest studio album, Minutes to Midnight branched away from their previous nu metal sound, venturing into a variety of other genres. The album topped the Billboard Charts and became the third best debut week of any album for the year. They are also known for their several collaborations, most notably with rapper Jay-Z in their mash-up album Collision Course, and many other artists on Reanimation. |
What's This Code Stuff?MySpace allows users to customize their user profile pages by entering HTML (but not JavaScript) into such areas as "About Me,","I'd Like to Meet,", and "Interests." Videos, and flash-based content can be included this way. Users also have the option to add music to their profile pages via MySpace Music, a service that allows bands to post songs for use on MySpace. A user can also change the general appearance of his page by entering
CSS (in a element) into one of these fields to override the page's
default style sheet using my space editors. This is often used to tweak
fonts and colors, but it has its limitations due to poorly-structured
HTML used on the profile page. The fact that the user-added CSS is located in the middle of the page (rather than being located in the element) means that the page will begin to load with the default MySpace layout before abruptly changing to the custom layout. |
Many of the graphics you will find at this site are made by me, you do not have permission to post layouts that you make with my images on other layout sites, you may only use them in the manner suggested on this site. That is only as a layout or web design for your shop or personal site. If the link or the copyright is removed from the image I will seek legal means of having it removed. I don't remove copyrights from the images of others work, and neither should you. As long as the copyright is attached at the bottom or you link to this site you're all good. You only have to link one time.

A special type of modification is a div overlay, where the default layout is dramatically changed by hiding default text with tags and large images. There are several independent web sites offering MySpace layout design utilities which let a user select options and preview what their page will look like with them. MySpace has recently added its own "Profile Customizer" to the site, allowing users to change their profile through MySpace. Using this feature bypasses the CSS loading delay issue, as the MySpace default code is changed for the customized profile. |
