The word holiday has related but different meanings in English-speaking countries. A contraction of holy and day, holidays originally represented special religious days. This word has evolved in general usage to mean any special day of rest (as opposed to regular days of rest such as the weekend). In the English-speaking world a holiday can mean a period spent away from home or business in travel or recreation (e.g. "I'm going on holiday to Malta next week"); the North American equivalent is "vacation". Canadians often use the terms vacation and holiday interchangeably when referring to a trip away from home or time off work. In Australia, the term can refer to a vacation or gazetted public holiday, but not to a day of commemoration such as Mothers' Day or Halloween.

Christmas is an annual holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus. The date of the celebration is traditional, and is not considered to be his actual date of birth. Christmas festivities often combine the commemoration of Jesus' birth with various secular customs, many of which have been influenced by earlier winter festivals. In most places around the world, Christmas Day is celebrated on December 25. Christmas Eve is the preceding day, December 24. In the United Kingdom and many countries of the Commonwealth, Boxing Day is the following day, December 26. In Catholic countries, Saint Stephen's Day or the Feast of St. Stephen is December 26. The Armenian Apostolic Church observes Christmas on January 6. The word "Christmas" originated as a contraction of "Christ's mass." It is derived from the Middle English Christemasse and Old English Cristes mæsse, a phrase first recorded in 1038.[1] In early Greek versions of the New Testament, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ. Since the mid-sixteenth century Χ, or the similar Roman letter X, was used as an abbreviation for Christ.[2] Hence, "Xmas" is often used as an abbreviation for Christmas. After the conversion of Anglo-Saxon Britain in the very early 7th century, Christmas was referred to as geol,[1] the name of the pre-Christian solstice festival from which the current English word 'Yule' is derived.[3] The prominence of Christmas Day increased gradually after Charlemagne was crowned on Christmas Day in 800. Around the 12th century, the remnants of the former Saturnalian traditions of the Romans were transferred to the Twelve Days of Christmas (26 December – 6 January). Christmas during the Middle Ages was a public festival, incorporating ivy, holly, and other evergreens, as well as gift-giving. Modern traditions have come to include the display of Nativity scenes, Holly and Christmas trees, the exchange of gifts and cards, and the arrival of Father Christmas or Santa Claus on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. Popular Christmas themes include the promotion of goodwill and peace.

Halloween, or Hallowe'en

Halloween, or Hallowe'en, is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses" and carving jack-o-lanterns. The term Halloween (and its alternative rendering Hallowe'en) is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day", which is now also known as All Saints' Day. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is now celebrated in several parts of the Western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom and occasionally in parts of Australia, New Zealand, and Dooklaluk Village in Zimbabwe.

New Year's Eve is 31 December, the final day of the Gregorian year, and the day before New Year's Day. New Year's Eve is a separate observance from the observance of New Year's Day. In 21st-century Western practice, New Year's Eve is celebrated with parties and social gatherings spanning the transition of the year at midnight. Many cultures use fireworks and other forms of noise making in part of the celebration. The seasons were previously considered by some Western countries to start at the equies and solstices, based on astronomical reckoning. In American-printed English-language calendars, based on astronomy, summer begins on the day of the summer solstice and ends on the day of the autumn equinox. When it is Summer in the Southern Hemisphere, it is Winter in the Northern Hemisphere, and vice versa. But, because the seasonal lag is less than 1/8 of a year (except near large bodies of water), the meteorological start of the season, which is based on average temperature patterns, precedes by about three weeks the start of the astronomical season. According to meteorology, Summer is the whole months of December, January, and February in the Southern Hemisphere, and the whole months of June, July, and August in the Northern Hemisphere. This meteorological definition of Summer also aligns with commonly viewed notion of Summer as the season with the longest (and warmest) days of the year, in which the daylight predominates, through varying degrees.[citation needed] (The use of astronomical beginning of the seasons means that Spring and Summer have an almost equal pattern of the length of the days, with Spring lengthening from the equinox to the soltice and Summer shortening from the soltice to the equinox, while meteorological Summer encompasses the build up to the longest day and decline thereafter, so that Summer has many more hours of daylight than Spring.)

Winter is one of the four seasons of temperate zones. Almost all English-language calendars, going by astronomy, state that winter begins on the winter solstice, and ends on the spring equinox. Calculated more by the weather, it begins and ends earlier and is the season with the shortest days and the lowest temperatures. Either way, it generally has cold weather and, especially in the higher latitudes, snow and ice. Depending on place and culture, start and end of winter can be defined as above or in other ways. What's This Code Stuff?

MySpace allows users to customize their user profile pages by entering HTML (but not JavaScript) into such areas as "About Me,","I'd Like to Meet,", and "Interests." Videos, and flash-based content can be included this way. Users also have the option to add music to their profile pages via MySpace Music, a service that allows bands to post songs for use on MySpace.


A user can also change the general appearance of his page by entering CSS (in a element) into one of these fields to override the page's default style sheet using my space editors. This is often used to tweak fonts and colors, but it has its limitations due to poorly-structured HTML used on the profile page.

The fact that the user-added CSS is located in the middle of the page (rather than being located in the element) means that the page will begin to load with the default MySpace layout before abruptly changing to the custom layout.

Many of the graphics you will find at this site are made by me, you do not have permission to post layouts that you make with my images on other layout sites, you may only use them in the manner suggested on this site. That is only as a layout or web design for your shop or personal site.

If the link or the copyright is removed from the image I will seek legal means of having it removed. I don't remove copyrights from the images of others work, and neither should you. As long as the copyright is attached at the bottom or you link to this site you're all good. You only have to link one time.

A special type of modification is a div overlay, where the default layout is dramatically changed by hiding default text with tags and large images. There are several independent web sites offering MySpace layout design utilities which let a user select options and preview what their page will look like with them. MySpace has recently added its own "Profile Customizer" to the site, allowing users to change their profile through MySpace. Using this feature bypasses the CSS loading delay issue, as the MySpace default code is changed for the customized profile.


How To Copy and Paste:


Take your mouse, and place your cursor at the beginning of the text in the box below, then click and hold the left mouse button, while pulling your mouse over the text.
This should highlight the text. Now release the left mouse button.
Now, with the cursor over the highlighted text, right click the mouse for options, and select 'copy'.
Now over the empty box below, right click your mouse again, and select 'paste' and you will have copied and pasted the text.


Cut and paste is the same as above, except you choose 'cut', instead of 'copy'.
Shortcuts To Highlight: Press 'Ctrl' + 'A'. To Copy: Highlight an area, as shown above, then hold 'Ctrl' + 'C' (For Mac users 'Apple' + 'C'). To Paste: Click your mouse where you want the text pasted, and then press 'Ctrl' + 'V' (For Mac users 'Apple' + 'S').

How To Apply a Layout to Your Myspace:


1. Find the layout of your choice.
2. Copy the code found on either the description page or live preview page. To copy, highlight all the code, then press Control+C.
3. If you haven't already, login to Myspace, go to your Home page.
4. Click on the Edit Profile.
5. In the text area next to About Me: paste the layout code by pressing Control+V.
6. You should now see the HTML code in the text area.
7. Preview the layout to make sure it works by clicking the Preview Profile Button.
8. Then press the Save All Changes button.
